Electrostatic charges often arise in situations where friction plays a role. This can be caused by the movement of machine parts, by clothing coming into contact with other objects or in transportation systems. An everyday example is walking over a carpet or moving a conveyor belt that rubs against a roller. Similarly, systems for extracting or transporting powders and bulk materials can build up electrostatic charges due to friction in the air circulation.

The unavoidable consequence of electrostatic charges is their discharge, also known as electrostatic discharge or ESD (electrostatic discharge). This discharge occurs abruptly and can lead to voltage peaks of up to several hundred thousand volts between two objects. In extreme cases, it can even lead to sparking. Conventional powder coatings, which have an electrically insulating effect, are not able to dissipate these voltage peaks. As a result, they can pose a risk to electronic components or even act as an ignition source for dust explosions.

The epoxy resin-based powder coating according to the RAL color system with the gloss level glossy is produced in Europe and provides a perfect surface result in flow, edge coverage, opacity and color. Pretreatment

Grease, oil, scale and oxidation products must be removed from the surface before Coating.

Recommended curing time

At 140 °C object temperature approx. 10 min; at 160 °C approx. 7 min; at 180 °C approx. 5 min

Theoretical coverage

At 60 μm film thickness 9 - 13 m²/kg

Optimum film thickness

- with a 1-layer coating 60 - 100 µm

- with a 2-layer coating 120 - 160 µm
